Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party in Andhra Pradesh, announced his Party’s decision to form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

On the 16th of January, Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders conducted a meeting, following which, the JanaSena President announced the coalition.

The announcement about the BJP-JanaSena alliance was made during a joint press conference held soon after the meeting was concluded.  Sunil Deodhar, the BJP in charge for A.P., said, “Today is a historic day of announcement of BJP-Jana Sena alliance.” He further added, “We will fight together to end political casteism, political dynasty raj and corruption in the State.”

Mr. Deodhar also criticised Chandrababu Naidu’s and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule and said, “In a short period of time, Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has failed and so did Chandrababu Naidu.  And there is no question of any alliance of the BJP with Telugu Desam or with YSRCP in the State (sic.)”

With this, it is clear the JanaSena Party would contest the 2024 elections with the BJP and would form the State Government if the alliance comes to power.

The historic announcement was made after Pawan Kalyan’s recent Delhi trip.  Mr. Kalyan, who was in touch with several BJP leaders over the past few days, addressed the media and said, “After 2014, there was a communication gap between us.  In the last three months, I met several BJP leaders including seniors in Delhi and for (the) sake of Andhra Pradesh future, BJP and Jana Sena will work together.”

Nadendla Manohar, Rammohan, Sunil Deodhar, G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, Purandeswari and other members of the JanaSena and the BJP were present during the meeting and the press conference.
