Mr. Pawan Kalyan, the Chief of the JanaSena Party, lashed out at the Andhra Pradesh Government over the demolition of houses in Guntur district’s Ippatam village.

On the 5th of November, Mr. Pawan Kalyan visited Ippatam village in the Guntur district and condemned the demolition of houses.

According to sources, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government announced the demolition of houses in the Ippatam region, in view of the road widening programme. Notably, on the 4th of November, Friday, the YSRCP led Andhra Pradesh Government launched a demolition drive in Ippatam village of Mangalgiri region.  The demolition drive created a tense situation in the region, as villagers whose house parts were demolished.  The villagers opposed the demolition and said, “The village is too small with no public transport facility.  Does anyone know where Ippatam village is? Why does a small village even need a 120 feet road?”

However, the town planning department said, the demolition was legal and the department issued notice to the villagers in this regard two times in the past six months.  “We told the residents that the compound walls and front yards which have encroached the road will be taken down as funds have been sanctioned. Total 53 encroachment structures are to be taken down. 1 house got the stay from court and four people took back the unauthorised construction themselves. And we will take down the remaining structures.”

Reacting to the demolition, Mr. Pawan Kalyan criticised the YSRCP Government.  Touring the Ippatam region, and visiting the demolished house location, Mr. Pawan KIalyan addressed the media and said, “Whether the YS Jagan government has any shame or not for demolishing the houses in the name of road widening.”  He further slammed Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, for not repairing the roads which were filled with potholes, but launching a road widening programme and demolishing houses of people.
