Galla Jayadev, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Member of Parliament (MP) of Guntur, questioned the exclusion of Amaravati from the new map of India.

Recently, after the State of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated and made a union territory, the Home Ministry of India released a map reflecting the new change.  However, due to the ongoing confusion regarding the capital of Andhra Pradesh, the Government of India (GoI) did not include Amaravati in the map.

On the 21st of November, during the Winter Session of the Parliament, Galla Jayadev said the move of the Central Government not only insulted the citizens of Andhra Pradesh but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

To emphasise on this, Mr. Jayadev said Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself visited Andhra Pradesh and laid the foundation for Amaravati, but the Home Ministry Department released the map of India without including the City.  Jayadev said this decision by the Home Ministry Department may affect the investment for the construction and development of the City.

This point was raised during the Zero Hour of the Parliamentary session.  Jayadev urged the Government of India to rectify their mistake by releasing a new map including Amaravati.

The Winter Session of the Parliament started on the 18th of November and would continue till the 13th of December.

Stay tuned for further updates.
