The Telangana Government led Forest Department officials in Nizamabad are urging the concerned officials to resolve the Podu Land Issue soon.

The Nizamabad Collector and other forest officials urged for the regularisation of the Podu lands in agency areas of different districts across the State, under the relevant forest act.  It is to be noted, many tribals claimed that many forest officials and senior authorities have taken their lands in the name of forest conservation.  These tribals/Adivasis reside in forests, away from suburban and urban life.  This has raged a controversy regarding the land which the tribals claimed to be theirs. In this regard, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Government called for strict action against those encroaching on forest land and set to issue guidelines soon.

The Podu Land issue which is pending since months once again came into light after the recent killing of Forest Range Officer Ch. Srinivasa Rao.  On the 22nd of November, in Kothagudem, FRO Ch. Srinivasa Rao was attacked by some tribals over a land issue, which resulted in his death.  The Telangana Police and State Government condemned the death and directed the State Police to take strict action against those involved in the murder.

Concerned about the rage between the tribals and government officials, especially forest department officials, the Nizamabad Collector C. Narayana Reddy, asked police to be more alert and take immediate action on complaints.  He also asked the officials to resolve the Podu Land Issue.
