A minor boy died and his father was critically injured on Friday morning, after a speeding truck hit them while crossing a road in Behala Chowrasta area here, triggering massive protests by locals who torched several vehicles, said official.

Getting into the details, the tragic accident caused by an overspeeding truck on the morning of the 4th of August, Friday, created a ruckus in Kolkata’s Behala area.  After the accident, an angry mob set fire to the police jeep. The Diamond Harbour Road incident.

Meanwhile, locals called for a protest and created a ruckus, demanding justice. To control the situation, the local police and RAF officials were deployed.  Soon tear gas and launched baton charge, lathi charge on protestors.

A case also has been registered and an investigation is underway.
