Amid special services during Makar Sankranti festival, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) generated a huge profit.

According to sources, the APSRTC ran special additional buses to reduce the festive rush between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, during Makar Sankranti.    The APSRTC has amassed Rs. 141 crores in revenue, confirmed Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the Managing Director (MD) of the APSRTC.    

Addressing the media, Mr. Dwarka Tirumala said, the income has come due to special services being utilised by passengers during Makar Sankranti festival.   He further explained that sufficient number of buses have been arranged for the return journeys between the two Telugu states. 

The APSRTC MD also said that a total of 3,392 buses including 1,483 special services were operated from the 6th of January to the 14th of January, with regular fares.  The APSRTC also gave 10% discount to those who have booked round trip tickets.
