Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, took to Twitter and shared his happiness as Telangana won a national award for Mission Bhagirathi.

On the 29th of September, Thursday, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao tweeted, “”Telangana’s flagship “Mission Bhagiratha” wins national award for providing safe drinking water to all rural households. Thanks for the recognition but it would be befitting if the NDA Govt can honour the recommendation of NITI Ayog to grant ₹19,000 Cr to this pioneering project.”

Furthermore, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) also sought funding from the Central Government for the free drinking water scheme. In his tweet, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao asked for funds of Rs. 19,000 crores from Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government.

Meanwhile, free drinking water for the people of Telangana under the Mission Bhagirathi, is a major project undertaken by the TRS Government in Telangana.  The KCR Government, in its 2018 Party manifesto, announced to provide free drinking water to the majority of households by 2023.
