Amaravati has been witnessing protests, rallies and strikes against the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government for proposing 3 State capitals.

With the support of the opposition party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) farmers of 29 villages of Amaravati are on a hunger strike, with the demand the proposal be withdrawn.

The dharna and rallies entered their 22nd day on the 6th of January, 2020.  As the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is adamant about its decision, so are the Amaravati farmers about continuing the protests.

Meanwhile, Kodali Nani, a member of the YSRCP, alleged Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP President, of planning a conspiracy and provoking the farmers against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P.

Mr. Nani said, “Instead of building Amaravati with a lakh of crores of rupees, Visakhapatnam holds all facilities and can compete with the cities like Delhi and Hyderabad had it been concentrated.”

Kodali Nani even invited the Amaravati farmers to hold talks regarding their issues, with an assurance of justice.

However, the farmers are not ready to listen to him and conducted a rally against the 3 State capital proposal.

The YSRCP Government proposed Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Kurnool as the capitals of Andhra Pradesh.

However, a final call regarding the same would be taken during a special Andhra Pradesh Assembly session after the 27th of January.
