In Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district, a huge explosion was reported at the Vakalapudi sugar factory.

On the afternoon of the 19th of August, Friday,  the incident was reported at the Parry Sugar Refinery in Vakalapudi industrial area on the outskirts of Kakinada.  In the accident, two workers died and as many as nine were badly injured.  The deceased were labourers from Samarlakota and Kondavaram.

Furthermore, as per sources, the explosion occurred due to a conveyor belt in the factory.  However, the details regarding the massive explosion are awaited.

Meanwhile, nine injured people were rushed to the Kakinada Government Hospital and are being treated.  Of the nine injured, two people who are said to be critical have been shifted to a private hospital in Kakinada for critical treatment. 

In addition, Mr. Kurasala Kannababu, the former Cabinet minister of Andhra Pradesh and a leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is currently at the accident site and reviewing the situation.

On the other hand, after the unfortunate explosion, many workers of the sugar factory started an agitation and demanded justice for the victim’s family.
