The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) on the 12th of September, appointed the new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Backward Class Commission.

The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP appointed Ambati Sankaranarayana, a retired judge of the AP High Court, as the new Chairman of the APBC.  Mr. Sankaranarayana will have a tenure of 3 years.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, decided to establish a Backward Class Commission to resolve the issues of the BC community in the State and provide them justice.

To initiate development works for the BC of the State, the YSRCP Government also approved the BC Commission Bill during the Budget session of the AP Assembly.

Justice Sankaranarayana was a judge of the joint High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The decision to appoint Ambati Sankaranarayana came after a meeting with C. Praveen Kumar, the interim Chief Justice of AP High Court.

However, an official notification regarding the appointment of Ambati Sankaranarayana is yet to be issued.
