On the evening of the 9th of October, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, appointed the new Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) High Court (HC.)

After the transfer of Mr. Arup Kumar Goseamu ended, following which Mr. Prashant Kumar Mishra was appointed as the new Chief Justice of A.P., High Court. The A.P., HC CJ Mr. Arup Kumar Goswami has been transferred to Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, on the 10th of October, the Andhra Pradesh High Court judges bid farewell to the outgoing Chief Justice Mr. Arup Kumar Goswami.

Justice Arup Kumar Goswami took over as the Chief Justice of the AP High Court on the 6th of January 2021.

Born on August 29, 1964, at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, he studied BSc and LLB in Guru Ghasidas University in Bilaspur. He enrolled as an advocate on September 4, 1987, and practiced law at district court at Raigarh, in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh in Jabalpur and in High Court of Chhattisgarh in Bilaspur.

He was designated as senior advocate by the High Court of Chhattisgarh in January, 2005. He worked as Chancellor’s nominee in the executive council of Guru Ghasidas University and was associated with Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, as its ex-officio member in the executive council.

Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra is currently serving as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.  He is expected to take oath as the Andhra Pradesh HC Chief Justice soon.
