The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Amaravati, called for a bandh on the 22nd of February.

Since the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) proposed to have 3 state capitals for A.P., farmers are protesting against the State Government.

The farmers of 29 villages of Amaravati entered 67th day of protest, on the 22nd of February.  The protestors are demanding to keep Amaravati as the only State Capital, whereas, the State Government decided to include Kurnool and Visakhapatnam.

To intensify the agitation, Amaravati JAC called for a bandh against the Amaravati police for taking violent action and lathi charges against the farmers protesting.

Residents of Amaravati participated in the bandh and voluntarily closed shops except emergency services.

Named as Amaravati Peasants Movement, teams of student, farmers, women, men and others joined the one day bandh against the State Government.
