The Indian Government assured full support to the economic crisis-hit nation, Sri Lanka.

On the 21st of July, Thursday, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Mr. Gopal Baglay said, “We’ll continue to be supportive of the requirements of the people of Sri Lanka.”

Furthermore, he highlighted that Sri Lanka is the closest friend of India, and India has rendered a kind of support that has not been given to any other nation. He also said, the Indian Government has always been in support of Sri Lanka, accommodating people of the island nation, who flew to Tamil Nadu, in India.

In addition, the Indian Government also said, they have stood with Sri Lanka and helped the nation with various investments in the past, and now also they would support the neighboring country.

Mr. Gopal Baglay also said, so far India has sent 700 million fuel to Sri Lanka and would continue to send the necessary items to the people of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, after the resignation of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe is the new President of Sri Lanka.
