The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that due to the effect of the Surface Trough from East Vidarbha to South Coastal Andhra, there would be heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next two days.

On the 29th of August, the IMD issued an alert in view of the Surface Trough. extending up to 0.9 km above sea level.  According to sources, there would be a possibility of light to moderate rains and heavy rains at some places in the North Coast, South Coast and Rayalaseema.  In addition, thunder and lightning would also occur and gusty winds have been predicted in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh.

The rains would continue till the 31st of August, Wednesday, following which it would start decreasing.  

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing heavy to moderate rainfall for the past five days.
