The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heatwave alert for the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

In Andhra Pradesh, an alert has been issued for 32 Mandals, where the temperature is likely to soar over 40 degrees Celsius.  

According to sources, the reports say that seven Alluri Sitarama Raju district mandals will experience an extreme heat wave, and the temperature will touch a minimum of 44 degrees Celsius.

Five mandals in Anakapalli District, two mandals in East Godavari, six mandals in Kakinada, and six mandals in Parvathipuram District are also alerted for heat waves.  In addition, the State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA) caution these district residents to take necessary precautions and avoid sunstroke along with other health issues.

Meanwhile, in Telangana, an Orange alert has been issued for 33 districts, including Hyderabad, Chaprala in Adilabad district, Dasturabad in Nirmal district and Julurupad in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.  These districts reported over 43 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for people to venture out.

In addition, the Telangana Government also urged people to stay indoors and take the necessary precautions to avoid heat stroke.
