The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is likely to appoint Nilam Sawhney, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as the new Chief Secretary (CS) of Andhra Pradesh (AP.)

Nilam Sawhney, a cadre of the 1984 batch, is currently serving as the Secretary of the Central Vigilance Commission.  According to sources, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) shortlisted 5 top IAS officers for the post and out of them, Nilam Sawhney is expected to be selected as the new CS of Andhra Pradesh.

The list of 5 IAS officers was sent to the Central Government, which would further shortlist three IAS officers and ask the State Government to appoint one out of the three.

The final decision would be made by the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP Government.

Although it is expected Nilam Sawhney would be made the next CS of Andhra Pradesh, an official announcement regarding her appointment is yet to come.
