On the 14th of May, Saturday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) appointed a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena as the next Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh.

The appointment of Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena was notified to the Andhra Pradesh Government through a communication.  The notice was sent to Mr. Sameer Sharma, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday.  As per the ECI information, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena would take charge as the CEO, replacing Mr. K. Vijayanand, who will now return to the State services. 

Highlighting about Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena, he is an IAS officer of 1998 batch and is currently looking after Commercial Taxes as a Secretary to the Government in the Union Finance Department.   Furthermore, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena is also holding the full additional charge of the post of Secretary, Food Processing.

The Election Commission of India notification read, “Meena shall cease to hold and hand over forthwith the charge of all or any charges of work under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, which he may be holding before such assumption of office.” 

Meanwhile, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena would take over as the CEO with immediate effect, from the 14th of May.
