The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) committee, on the 3rd of January, submitted its report about the ongoing issue of Andhra Pradesh’s capitals.

The BCG submitted the report to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) with two major suggestions.

Vijay Kumar, the Secretary of the Planning Department, announced the details of the BCG report to the media during a press conference.

According to the given report, the BCG said focus must be placed on the 13 districts of A.P., in terms of development.  Speaking about the economic situation, the BCG said Andhra Pradesh already has a debt of Rs 2.5 lakh crores, which is a problem compared to the other states as 7 of the 13 districts were lagging and the industrial growth in 8 districts is very low.  On the other hand, agricultural production is high only in the Krishna and Godavari basins.

The two suggestions made in the BCG report were:

Option 1:

Visakhapatnam: A Secretariat, Governor and CM offices, 15 Government offices, a High Court bench and an Assembly for emergency meetings.

Amaravati: A Legislative Assembly, a High Court bench and 15 government departments.

Kurnool: A High Court, a State Commissionerate and appellate institutions.

Option 2:

Visakhapatnam: A Secretariat, Governor and CM offices, offices of all Government departments, a High Court bench and an Assembly for emergency meetings.

Amravati: A Legislative Assembly and a High Court bench.

Kurnool: A High Court, a State Commissionerate and appellate institutions.

The BCG stated making arrangements in the capital cities according to the given options would help the State grow and develop irrespective of the economic debt.

The final decision regarding the A.P., capitals would be taken during a special Assembly session after the 27th of January.

Stay tuned for further updates.
