The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Medical and Health Department, on the 12th of March, announced their first positive Coronavirus case in Nellore, A.P.

The man who was tested positive had a travel history from Italy.  On the 6th of March, the man returned from Italy to Nellore. After his return, he was kept in isolation wards, following which his samples were sent to Tirupati for the COVID-19 test.

The tests on his blood samples were taken at the  virology lab in Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences in Tirupati, which confirmed him to be a positive case for COVID-19. 

According to the Medical and Health Department, the man had dry cough and was admitted to the government hospital in Nellore.

The Health Department issued a notification regarding the same on the night of the 12th of March.  The press release read, “The patient is stable and all his vitals are normal and he has recovered from the symptoms.  He is keeping good health and will be discharged after 14days on retesting the sample,” 

With this, India reported a total of 70 positive cases for COVID-19 and one death due to the disease.
