On the 20th of April, Thursday, the Telangana High Court, issued an order, asking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Hyderabad, to conduct the probe as per guidelines of the Supreme Court (SC.)

The orders of the Telangana HC came after reviewing a petition filed by Mr. Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy, a leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) arrested in the murder case of Mr. Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.

Notably, in 2019, Mr. Vivekananda Reddy, the uncle of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was stabbed to death at his residence in Pulivendula.  The major reason behind the murder is said to be the 2019 Assembly elections, in which Mr. Vivekananda Reddy was contesting on the YSRCP ticket.

In the filed petition, Mr. Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy raised objection against the manner in which the CBI is investigating the matter.  He also questioned the non compliance of the Apex Court guidelines in the CBI custody.

Reacting to the arguments of the YSRCP leader, the Telangana High Court said that the guidelines of the Supreme Court must be followed while questioning the accused in the case.  The court also asked the CBI to record a video and audio, while questioning and during the trials.

In addition, the HC also asked the CBI officials to ensure medical tests in view of Bhaskar Reddy’s illness.

Meanwhile, the CBI has summoned Mr. Y.S. Avinash Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the YSRCP from Kadapa constituency, in connection with the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
