CM YS Jagan lays foundation for Rs. 216 cr projects at Kanaka Durga temple

Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid foundation stone for a slew of development projects worth Rs. 216.05 crores as a part of revised master plan at Kanaka Durga temple a top Indrakeeladri on Thursday.

The Chief Minister launched the eight temples reconstructed with an expenditure of Rs.3.87crore. He also inaugurated  Malleswara Swamy Vari temple constructed with a cost of Rs.5.60 crores. Rs.4.25crore worth Indrakeeladri protection system, Rs,3.25crore water management and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system were also inaugurated by CM.

Jagan laid the stone for the construction of Rs. 13 crore elevated queue complex, Rs. 30crore Anna Prasada Bhavanam, Rs. 15 crore staircase in front of the Rajagopuram, Rs.27 crore Anna Prasadam Potu (kitchen),  Rs. 7 crore Puja Mandapam, and the Rs.23.50 crore additional queue complex on the south side.  

The Chief Minister had a darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga after the ceremony.

Meanwhile, opposition parties are criticizing the change in the master plan of the temple twice in the last five years. Jana Sena spokesperson and NTR district president Pothina Mahes commented that the master plan of Kanaka Durga temple changes whenever the endowments minister changes in the state. “The then endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas approved one master plan for Kanaka Durga temple. Present endowments minister Kottu Satyanarayana revised that master plan citing some mistakes. How can the government waste money donated by devotees in the name of master plan revision. CM YS Jagan laid the foundation for the project twice,” Pothina Mahesh alleged.
