Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) clan and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu, paid rich tribute to Senior NTR. 

On the 28th of May, people and fans of Sr. NTR are celebrating the 98th birth anniversary of the legendary actor and politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Political leaders and members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) paid their tributes at the NTR Ghat in Andhra Pradesh. Balakrishna, Jr. NTR, Kalyanram, late Sr. NTR’s wife Lakshmi Parvati and other leaders were seen paying tributes. Floral tributes were also paid to the statues of the actor at the prominent locations in A.P.

NTR, one of the famous names amongst Telugu people, was born on the 28th of May 1923 in Nimmakuru village of Gudivada taluk in Krishna district, A.P. The actor and politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao became one of the most eminent personalities in Tollywood and with his consistent hard work and dedication.

Sr. NTR was popular and known for his films like Patala Bhairavi, Malliswari, Thodu Dongalu, Mayabazar, Bhookailas, Gulebakavali Katha, Bhishma, Ramudu Bheemudu and others. He scored blockbusters with his movies and also conquered hearts of millions with his brilliant and varied roles. He received several awards and honours including the ‘Padma Shri’. He also made his mark in the field of politics and founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982. He also served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for three terms, from 1983 to 1995.

On the birth anniversary of late Sr. NTR Tollywood stars, politicians and his fans flooded Twitter with #RememberingTheLegend. Jr. NTR, the Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, film director Bobby, former Minister of Andhra Pradesh Bhuma Akhila Reddy, Vamsi Kaka and others remembered Sr. NTR on his birth anniversary. On this occasion, another hashtag, #BharatRatnaForNTR is trending on Twitter.

Actors and prominent people like Chiranjeevi, filmmaker Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Jr. NTR and others demanded the prestigious civilian award Bharat Ratna for late Sr. NTR.

Chiranjeevi’s tweet read, “Legendary singer and musician Bhupen Hazarika was awarded Bharata Ratna posthumously. Similarly, Bharat Ratna should be announced for NTR posthumously and it will be a proud moment for the entire Telugu community. We are going to celebrate NTR’s 100th birth anniversary soon and on this occasion, the Government should announce Bharat Ratna to the legendary actor.”

The tweet was reposted and shared by several fans and netizens urging the Central Government to announce the Bharat Ratna for the legendary.
