Botsa Satyanarayana, a senior leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Andhra Pradesh, commented about Amaravati.

Botsa Satyanarayana, on the 20th of August, addressed the media in Visakhapatnam and spoke about the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati.  He said Amaravati is unsafe for construction and development, due to which, the State Government should rethink about the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Botsa said, “Much of public money is wasted by the previous government in the development of Amaravati region. Our government has carried out proper plans as far as flood management is concerned. Most of the areas in the state capital region are facing a flood threat. Soon all matters will be discussed in the state cabinet.”  He further criticised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government for wasting public money.

Mr. Satyanarayana said, “Siva Rama Krishna Committee had pointed out that Amaravati is not a safe place for being the capital city. Public money was misused by the previous TDP Government. Majority of places occupied in Amaravati lies in flood-prone areas. The expenditure on the construction process in Amaravati is more compared to other regions.”

The decision regarding Amaravati will be discussed soon in a Cabinet meeting, following which, the YSRCP Government will make an announcement.

The statements of the Minister came as a shock to the citizens of AP.  As per the statement, it is expected AP will soon have a new capital.

However, an official announcement regarding the same will be made after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, returns to India.

Stay tuned for further updates.
