Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, the Energy, Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 8th of June, announced the plan of the A.P., Government to provide free power to farmers.

Mr. Reddy said, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government is going to introduce 9 hours uninterrupted free supply of power in daytime to farmers for agriculture.

The announcement was made on the occasion of the one year completion of Balineni Srinivasa Reddy as the State Cabinet minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr. Reddy thanked the people of Ongole for electing him as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Ongole for the 5 times in a row.

Following the suggestions of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the State would start to work on providing free electricity.   The work would be executed with a budget of Rs. 17,000 crores.

Mr. Reddy said the State Government is going to bear the subsidies in the electricity charges and would be repaying the loans of farmers. 

The Ongole Minister further added they were establishing 10,000 MW solar power project with Rs. 40,000 crore estimation in the state.  Out of the 10,000 MW, 1,500 MW would be installed in the district.

The Minister also announced an amount of Rs. 50 crores sanctioned to Prakasam University, to IIIT at Kanigiri, medical college in Markapuram, Ramayapatnem port.

Mr. Reddy assured development of the district and the State as well as the maintenance of the green environment.
