The Andhra Pradesh Government decided to come up with another innovative idea to provide oxygen to the Wuhan virus patients.

The Andhra Pradesh State Run Transport Corporation (APSRTC) decided to turn RTC AC buses to COVID-19 beds with oxygen for patients in need. The buses would be well equipped and would provide services to patients in areas where there is a shortage of COVID-19 beds.

As of now, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government run APSRTC has set up 10 oxygen beds in the Vennela bus. This is a pilot (experiment) project as of now and if successful, would be expanded for patients across Andhra Pradesh.

Perni Nani, the Andhra Pradesh Transport and Communications Minister said, each APSRTC sleeper bus would provide medical services to nearly 10 patients. According to the minister, mostly rural areas with shortage of beds and hospital facilities, would be given the services of the new RTC Bus oxygen beds.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and other State ministers decided to do so, in the wake of the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus cases. Andhra Pradesh is one of the worst COVID-19 hit states in India with 15,000 to 20,000 cases of the Wuhan virus regularly. Till date, with 18,285 new cases, Andhra Pradesh has 16,27,390 COVID-19 positive cases, of which 1,98,104 are active cases and 10,427 are deceased cases.
