On the 20th of September, the Andhra Pradesh Minister Mr. Parni Nani was scheduled to meet with a delegation of Tollywood stars.

However, at the last moment, the meeting was cancelled leaving Tollywood celebrities in shock. The meeting was organised to discuss the sufferings of the Telugu film industry and dissatisfaction over the new decision of the Government to enter the movie business.

Recently, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) issued a Government Order (GO) announcing a new movie ticket portal. The YSRCP Government passed the order to set up a State run website for the online sale of cinema tickets in both single and multiplex theatres.

The decision to enter the business of movie tickets was taken to ensure corruption free ticket selling and tax evasion from private companies.

The sudden issued order of the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government shocked the people of the Tollywood Industry and Cineplex and Multiplex businessmen. As per the new GO, the State Government would soon float a new online portal, selling movie tickets under the AP State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation. In regard to this, the State Government also formed a committee, which is working on the modalities and the blueprint.

Concerned with the future statistics and losses due to the new online movie ticket portal, the Telugu film industry people are willing to meet with Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to resolve the issues. Delegates of the Tollywood industry led by Megastar Chiranjeevi were scheduled to meet with Mr. Parni Nani, the Andhra Pradesh Minister, regarding the same on the 20th of September.

However, at the last moment Mr. Parni Nani cancelled the meeting without citing any reason. This is the second time the meeting has been cancelled. The cancellation of the meeting has disappointed the Tollywood delegates, who are trying to meet Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and exhibit the struggles and losses of the film industry, if the portal is enacted.

It is to be noted, besides the hospitality and tourism Industry, the film and entertainment industry is also suffering losses due to the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic. Theatres and cinema halls are closed for offline ticket bookings with a limited number of seats and staff.
