The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) asked the State Government led by Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to submit a status report on the Amaravati State Capital matter.

On the 5th of May, Thursday, the Court reviewed a petition filed by the farmers of Amaravati, who alleged that the YSRCP Government is not enforcing a previous High Court judgment on the capital Amravati issue.

It is to be noted, that earlier, the Andhra Pradesh HC asked the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to develop Amaravati as the Capital of the State.  However, the YSRCP Government did not implement the order and acted upon the HC judgement.

The petitioners claimed that the judgment was not deliberately enforced.  Mr. Muralidhar, a lawyer for the farmers, told the court that the execution of the capital judgment was being delayed on the pretext of lack of funds.

Responding to the arguments, the High Court directed the YSRCP Government to give a status report on Amaravati, till the 12th of July.
