The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) led Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 1st of June, released the Godavari water for farmers.

Considering the need of farmers and in order to support the farmers in the Kharif season, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced to release of the water.

Mr. Ambati Rambabu, the Water Resource Minister of the YSRCP Cabinet Ministry, on Thursday, released the water for Kharif cultivation.   The water would be released to delta canals near Vijeswaram in Nidadavolu Mandal of East Godavari district.  The water is released to the western delta canal from the Vijeswaram head sluice. The taken measure would provide irrigation water to 5.29 lakh acres of areas.

During the water release event, Mr. Ambati Rambabu, the Water Resources Minister, criticized the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government for their mistake, resulting in the pending Polavaram Project and the suffering of the farmers due to irrigation problems faced by the farmers.

Mr. Ambati Rambabu said, the TDP Government undertook the construction of the diaphragm wall before the completion of the Copper Dam and hence the construction of the project is being delayed.  Furthermore, Mr. Ambati Rambabu also assured to complete the Polavaram Project soon.
