Appreciating the Bronze Medal of P.V. Sindhu at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, the Andhra Pradesh Government announced prize money. On the 3rd of August, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Rs. 30 lakhs cash prize.

The announced reward would be given to the Indian Shuttler P.V. Sindhu. Recently, the Indian badminton champion and citizen of the Telugu State, secured a Bronze Medal at the Tokyo Olympics. With this, P.V. Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman and the second Indian to win two individual medals at the Olympics. Wrestler Sushil Kumar was the first Indian to win two Olympics medals. His first medal was a Bronze Medal at the Beijing Olympics 2008 and a Silver at the London Olympics 2012.

It is to be noted, the prize money announced by the Andhra Pradesh Government was given under the A.P., Government’s Sports Policy.

Meanwhile, in order to improve talent in the State, the YSRCP Government had allotted two acres of land for Sindhu to set up a badminton academy at Visakhapatnam.

With this allotted land, the Indian shuttler would begin her badminton academy in Andhra Pradesh.
