In Andhra Pradesh’s Gopalapuram region, tension prevailed after Mr. Ganji Prasad, a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader was murdered.

According to sources, the villagers gathered and attacked Mr. Talari Venkat Rao, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Gopalapuram constituency.  The villagers attacked the MLA on the 30th of April, morning.  It is to be noted that the MLA had visited the village to enquire into the death of the YSRCP leader and meet his family members.  However, on his way, MLA Talari Venkat Rao was attacked, believing that Mr. Ganji Prasad was killed for political gains.  

After hearing the ruckus, the local police rushed to the spot and were said to be injured.  The MLA and injured police officials have been shifted to a nearby government hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, a case has been registered against the villagers involved in the violence and an investigation is underway.
