Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 22nd of March, conducted a review meeting. The meeting was organised at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) camp office in Tadepalli to discuss the animal husbandry and fishery sectors of the State.

During the meeting, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to fill the vacant veterinary doctor posts in the State. He also asked the officials to prepare Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for veterinary doctors at the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs.) He also said animal feed and medicines should be provided through kiosks in RBKs and directed to take steps to ensure seed, feed and medication.

In addition, the A.P., Chief Minister (CM) also enquired about the functioning of integrated call centres in RBKs.

According to the sources, as per the direction of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the animal husbandry department would fill 6,099 Animal Husbandry Assistant(AHA) vacancies. The officials also updated about the functioning of Pashu Rakshak app and said quality seed is being given due to the implementation of Animal Feed Act.

The Chief Minister warned the officials to be cautious regarding bio pesticides without compromising over quality. He also reviewed the Jagananna Palavelluva and Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi programs under the YSR Cheyutha and the YSR Asara schemes. These programmes were introduced to support women beneficiaries for starting their small businesses. Under the schemes, the YSRCP Government would provide them goats and sheep to start small ventures in the Animal Husbandry sector.

Reviewing the same, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to implement these programmes extensively and said to increase coordination with the banks in this regard.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the recruitment of village fisheries assistant posts and increase subsidies of small and marginal aqua farmers. He also asked them to ensure no adulteration in drugs used in aquaculture and added to decrease the usage of antibiotics.

Reviewing the Matyakara Bharosa scheme, the Chief Minister said every eligible beneficiary should benefit from the scheme and directed the officials to focus on cage culture in reservoirs.

The Animal Husbandry, Fisheries And Dairy Minister of A.P., Dr. Seediri Appalaraju and other officials were present during the review meeting.
