Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) met with the Chief Minister of Odisha Mr. Naveen Patnaik.

The meeting was held at the Odisha Secretariat in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, regarding the joint Committee of chief secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, to resolve the water issue between the two States. It is to be noted, the two States have a decade long unresolved Vamsadhara water sharing dispute. The two ministers said to form a mechanical body to resolve the issue.

The two chief ministers discussed various other issues between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, including growth and development, ganja cultivation and left wing extremist issues.

In addition, the A.P., CM also discussed the construction of the Neredi barrage on the Vamsadhara river and Janjavathi project with the Odisha CM.

Other major issues discussed during yesterday’s meeting were release of water from the Bahuda River, regarding the NOC for Balimela and upper Sileru projects. They also had a discussion over the growth and development of the two states, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. In addition, the introduction of the regional language of Andhra Pradesh (Telugu)at Odisha University was also brought up during the meeting.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Bhubaneswar through a special flight on the 9th of November, Tuesday. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was accompanied by the Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Mr. Dharmana Krishna Das, the Chief Secretary of A.P., Mr. Sameer Sharma, the Director General of Police (DGP) of A.P., Mr. Gautam Sawang and various departmental officials.

The meeting between Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr. Naveen Patnaik was said to be fruitful. Both the leaders assured to work together and cooperate to resolve the issued between A.P., and Odisha
