On the 28th of December, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) unveiled the pylon for the YSR Jagananna Colony besides distributing house site pattas under ‘Pedalandariki Illu’ scheme. 

The colony and house pattas were launched at Urandur in Srikalahasti of Chittoor district.

CM Jagan also announced the works of the houses, which is to be constructed in the first installment.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said, “We are distributing house sites to 30.75 lakh people across the state. In the first phase, we are constructing 15.60 lakhs houses. We are giving a plot of land worth Rs. 7 lakhs to beneficiaries in Srikalahasti.”  He further said, “We are providing cash directly to women through schemes like Amma Vodi, Cheyuta and Vasati Divena and depositing cash directly to all women accounts without any corruption,” 

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also said, the distribution of title deeds of the houses would be a continuous process and assured of providing infrastructure including drinking water, drainage and electricity.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “We will set up parks, anganwadis, village clinics and RBKs depending on the layout area.  The area has been increased from 224 square feet to 340 square feet.”

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister further said that they offer 300 square feet Tidco homes for just one rupee and opined that the Government is spending over Rs 9,000 crore to complete TIDCO houses.

Highlighting the options of building houses in the State under house pattas, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy said in the first option, we would give the construction materials and labour charges to the beneficiaries while in the second option, we would pay the construction expenses based on the progress of the building and in the third option, the State Government would build the house entirely and provide it to the beneficiaries. 

The initiative was taken to provide housing to underprivileged who are living in kaccha houses and on rents. 

The Chief Minister said he had witnessed the plight of the homeless poor during his 3,648 km padayatra, where a majority were seen living either in a kacha house or in rented spaces by spending almost 35 % of their earnings on rents. 

He said that all these living conditions of the poor had driven him to take up this massive project, and thus promised to provide 25 lakh houses. 

However, now they are offering more than the promised with nearly 30,75,000 house sites for the poor. 

He also stated that the distribution of title deeds of the houses would be a continuous process and who are eligible and could still apply for houses which would be provided with a house site within 90 days.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy led the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government is willing to register the house in the name of the beneficiaries. 

Mr. Jagan assured the same and said, “At present, only ‘D’ pattas are being given to the beneficiaries and all the rights will be given to the beneficiaries once the legal implications are removed.”

Meanwhile, during the meeting and launch event, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of moving the court upon the house pattas would be distributed on the 25th of December.  Due to the court case filed by the TDP, the distribution of the house pattas is on hold as the A.P., High Court put a stay order. 

CM Jagan clarified that the houses would be distributed to all the beneficiaries once the legal issues are resolved.
