Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) conducted a review meeting to take stock of Cyclone Gulab (the flower Rose in Hindi) and its impact.

The review meeting was held virtually, through a video conference and discussed relief measures, rescue operations, control room set up and helplines. District collectors of cyclone affected areas, Mr. Adityanath Das, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and other concerned officials attended the virtual meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Adityanath Das, who is reviewing the relief works and other measures, briefed Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy about the post cyclone situation.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, the Andhra Pradesh CM asked to restore power as soon as the rains subsided, and ordered the A.P., CS to stay in the cyclone affected areas and review the measures.

In addition, the State CM directed to pay ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakhs to the families, who lost their kin due to cyclone, immediately. The State CM said, setting up camps, providing food, water and helping victims of Cyclone Gulab, medical facilities and the other necessary arrangements should be done immediately. As of now, two fishermen have lost their lives due to the cyclonic storm in Srikakulam district.

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked to pump out rainwater in the flood hit areas, set up medical camps in flood hit areas and support the families who are suffering due to water intrusion into their homes.

The CM ordered financial assistance of Rs. 1000 to the victims, when they leave the relief camps.

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked to maintain water schemes with a generator on a war footing, to prepare damage estimates should be prepared immediately and steps should be taken to support the farmers.

It is to be noted, after Odisha, the depression from Bay of Bengal, which turned into a cyclonic storm named Gulab landed in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts are some of the regions which have been affected due to the cyclone. However, in the next few hours, the cyclone is likely to weaken into a depression, causing heavy to moderate rainfall in the regions of Andhra Pradesh.
