Vijayawada: In a major development Andhra Pradesh government postponed the prestigious caste based census scheduled from December 9, 2023. State government made immense exercise for the census as AP is the second state after Bihar to take up the much demanded caste based census. 

BC welfare minister Chelluboyina Venugopalakrishna in a press release stated that the cyclone Michaung had severely impacted the state and people were yet to recover from the damage caused. Minister said that crops in lakhs of hectares got damaged and officials are busy enumerating crops and other cyclone relief activities.

“This is not an appropriate time to start the census. Officials are busy right now in cyclone relief work. Our government is committed to take up the census and we will announce the next date,” minister said.

He trashed former CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for his comments on poor cyclone relief works. “Natural calamities like cyclones are unwarranted. We took maximum steps to prevent the damage. Our officials are on ground monitorin
