Translumina, a global manufacturer of unique cardiovascular devices, laid the foundation stone for a heart valve manufacturing facility. On the 28th of December, the company inaugurated the heart valve facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, which will be Asia’s largest medical manufacturing facility.

Mr. Gurmeet Singh Chugh, the Managing Director (MD) and the Co Founder of Translumina said, “We have partnered with some of the best institutions and physicians around the world to create next generation heart valve technologies to offer better clinical outcomes at an affordable cost for all valve disorders.” Furthermore, he expressed pride over the inaugurated facility and said, “It is a moment of great pride for all of us to enter the market of Transcatheter valves.”

Heart valve disorders which used to have only one cure, that is open heart surgery, have been changed by Translumina. In the last few years, Transcatheter Heart valve Implantation (using a catheter without opening the heart) has made the procedure simple, safe and effective with a minimally invasive approach. However, the treatment is said to be expensive and affordable by only a few people.

Ms. Punita Sharma Arora, the Co Founder of Translumina, said, “We plan to complete the facility by December 2022 with more than 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space with the state of the art equipment and infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) said, “We are pleased to welcome Translumina to AMTZ Family for developing Asia’s largest Valve manufacturing facility. Translumina over the years, has created various cutting-edge technologies of very high quality for global markets and I am sure that this endeavour will also disrupt the market of Transcatheter Valves by combining innovation, quality and affordability.”

The newly launched facility would be completed by 2022 December.
