The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Winter Sessions started from the 30th of November.

The session began at 9:00 A.M., on the 30th of November, to pass several bills, discuss key issues, flood damage, the Novel Coronavirus and others.

On the first day of the Winter Assembly session, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government tabled the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill and approved it.

The new Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill 2020, was introduced earlier also and an ordinance regarding the same was passed.

However, the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the YSRCP with majority votes, approved the bill.

Despite the uproar and opposition of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) against the newly approved bill, the State Government decided to pass the bill.

In regard to this, the TDP showed objection and walked out of the ongoing session.

The TDP MLAs urged the Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram to allow discussion on the approved Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill 2020.

Meanwhile, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) explained the situation and said the bill has already been sent to the Legislative Council for consideration. He explained that the Panchayati Raj amendment bill was brought in an innovative manner. The bill was introduced for a change in the system.

The TDP opposed the bill and also gave the adjournment resolution to discuss the agriculture sector.

The Winter Assembly elections are scheduled till the 4th of December.
