Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has suspended K Venkatarami Reddy, President of the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Employees Association (APSEA), following directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI). Reddy, currently serving as Assistant Secretary at the Panchayat Raj department, faced suspension after allegedly participating in political campaigning for the ruling YSRCP at the Badvel bus depot.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) lodged a complaint with the ECI, submitting videos purportedly showing Reddy advocating for the ruling party. The ECI swiftly acted on the complaint, requesting a report from the Kadapa district collector and subsequently recommending disciplinary action against Reddy.

As per government orders, Reddy is barred from leaving the state headquarters during the suspension period. The incident underscores the ECI’s vigilance in enforcing impartiality during election periods and highlights the repercussions for civil servants engaging in partisan activities.
