In Andhra Pradesh, a woman identified as Shravani, who was pregnant, was allegedly killed on Monday, the 14th of November.

According to sources, the incident occurred at Kopperapadu of Ballikurava Mandal of Bapatla district, Andhra Pradesh.   getting into the details, Shravani was forced to undertake a gender determination test, and once it was confirmed that she was giving birth to a girl, Shravani’s in laws, poisoned her to death.  She was undergoing treatment and died after a week, on the 14th of November.

The Bapatla Police said, Shravani from Kopperapadu of Ballikurava mandal of Bapatla district got married to Gadiparthi Venu of Subbayyapaleniki village in the mandal in 2020. Shravani gave birth to a girl in her first delivery and got pregnant for the second time. Not willing to have another daughter, Shravani’s husband and mother in law, forced her to have a gender determination test. However, after knowing that for the second time also, shravani is going to give birth to a girl child, her in laws poisoned her with buttermilk.  After she vomited blood and pieces of intestine, she was taken to a private hospital in Narasaraopet, where she died after being in a coma for days.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under the relevant section of te Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched an investigation into the matter.
