The Andhra Pradesh Police arrested a man for objectionable social media posts against Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, the Gannavaram Police in Krishna district arrested Ponduri Kotiratnam Anjan (34) for posting derogatory messages on social media.  The accused Anjan allegedly posted messages on social media defaming the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government and provoking the public.

Speaking about Ponduri Kotiratnam Anjan,  he did his Masters in the United States (U.S.,) and worked at a company there for three years before returning to India in 2015.  He was arrested by the police from his house in Gannavaram, after a local YSRCP leader filed a complaint claiming that Anjab posted messages in favor of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was targeting the YSRCP leaders.

However, hours after the arrest, a local court granted bail to Anjan and asked the police to issue a notice for interrogation to Anjan.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against Koriratnam Anjan under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 153A.

The police seized his mobile phones and laptops, and sent the same to the forensic science laboratory for examination.
