On the 10th of December, Friday, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) issued new set of guidelines for the Omicron virus.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) issued the guidelines amid the rising threat of the new variant of COVID-19, Omicron.

In the latest issued guidelines, the YSRCP imposed strict enforcement of guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO.)  In addition, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy imposed a fine of Rs. 100 for not wearing a face mask.  Enhancing the face mask rule, the State Chief Minister also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on owners of shops, malls, commercial premises and business premises, which would allow unmasked people into their premises. In addition, the concerned officials were asked to shut down the business for two days, if any violation of COVID-19 rule was reported. 

District collectors, Superintendents of police (SPs) and other government officials are given duty to ensure everyone follows the rules.

On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh Government has indicated that people can report violations in shops, commercial, and business establishments across the state through WhatsApp on 8010968295.

It also directed the police to register cases under Section 188 of the Disaster Management and Indian Penal Code (IPC) Act if anyone deliberately violates the Rules.
