P.S. Girisha, the Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner, on the 17th of August, announced to extend the imposed lockdown in the district.

According to sources, due to the increasing number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Tirupati administration decided to extend the imposed lockdown.

The  Novel Coronavirus positive cases has been on the rise in the last few days in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. 

The pilgrim City would be under strict lockdown with strict guidelines. 

The previous lowdown was imposed till the 14th of August. 

Only emergency services, medical shops and grocery shops would be open.

Apart from these, all shops would be allowed from 6:00 A.M., to 5:00 P.M.

The district administration urged people to stay indoors and advised to come out only if there is an emergency. 

Commissioner Girisha  said strict action would be taken if any traders violate the imposed lockdown restrictions. 

Till the 17th of August, Chittoor reported a total of 23,917 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.  Of the total, 9,001 are active cases, 14,673 are recovered/discharged cases and 243 are deceased.
