The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) would start city bus services from the 20th of September.

Since the first nationwide lockdown was imposed, the APSRTC services to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada were suspended.

However, five months after the lockdown, the bus services in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam would begin.

The APSRTC planned strategically to run city buses in compliance with the regulations of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Social distancing, mandatory wearing of face masks and sanitization of buses would be in place.

The APSRTC on the 12th of September has sent the file to the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Department for approval.

City bus services will start as soon as the approval comes after consultation with the State Government.

The APSRTC bus services started in all other districts of Andhra Pradesh from the 21st of May.

However, city bus services were suspended in Andhra Pradesh.

The decision to start city bus services after the lockdown was taken for the candidates appearing for written tests for village/ward secretariat posts.

The written exams will be held from the 20th of September to the 26th of September.

Nearly 10 lakh candidates are likely to appear for these exams.

Stay tuned for further updates.
