The 29th Southern Zonal Council meeting will be held in Tirupati on the 14th of November.

The meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will be attended by governors, lieutenant governors, chief ministers, chief secretaries, advisors, and other senior officials from AP, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands.

During The Southern Zonal Council meeting, the southern states and Union Territories (UTs) would be resolving their issues. The meeting scheduled next month would be chaired by Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister.

Some of the ongoing issues between southern regions are water sharing issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The complaint of Karnataka Government about the plans of Telangana to construct two projects – Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme and Nakkalagandi LIS to draw large quantities of remaining/surplus waters, from the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir would also be discussed.

Representing the Central Government, Mr. Amit Shah would take decisions and his directions made during the meeting would be followed by the southern region governments. Initially the meeting was scheduled to be held on the 4th of October, but due to unavailability of Mr. Amit Shah, the meeting was cancelled then.

Again, recently the Central Government decided the new date for the council meeting. The Centre also wrote to the Andhra Pradesh Government and directed them to make all the necessary arrangements.

Dr. Sameer Sharma, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary directed the authorities to make arrangements to make the meeting a success. In addition, secretaries of various government department, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Executive Officer (EO,) the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chittoor district, and District Collector (DC) are making all the arrangements for the meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

In regard to this, the Andhra Pradesh Government held a virtual meeting from the State Secretariat on the 28th of October.

Dr. Sameer Sharma was ordered to make arrangements without resorting to any errors. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the State Government like Ms. Poonam Malakondaiah, Mr. L.A. Premachandra Reddy, Mr. Anil Singhal, Ms. V. Usha Rani, Ms. Shyamala Rao, Mr. P. Balakrishna Acharya and other officials.
