The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB,) on the 12th of June, addressed the media over the arrest of K. Atchannaidu, a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

The ACB confirmed  the TDP MLA Atchannaidu had a role in the Employee Security Insurance (ESI.)  The ACB said, the vigilance and enforcement investigation revealed his involvement and proved him guilty of taking money from the IMC directors during the rule of the TDP in between 2014-2018.

ACB Director Ravi Kumar  held a media briefing following the arrest of Atchannaidu revealed the details.  He said that they have investigated the case based on the vigilance department report over ESI scam.  He alleged that the former minister of labour, Atchannaidu was involved in large-scale corruption creating fake bills in procuring medical equipment, which involves a total of Rs. 150 crores scam.

Mr. Kumar said, “It was disclosed that the tenders were not called and the contract for procuring the equipment was done in the nomination process in contrary to the rule.”

Besides Mr. Atchannaidu, six persons have been arrested in connection with the case so far, including Ramesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar.

Meanwhile, TDP President Chandrababu Naidu and Party leaders claimed the arrest to be a plot of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to harass TDP leaders.  They said the arrets to be illegal and demanded action against the arrest.

The case is under investigation.
