Mr. Mahender Reddy, the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Telangana inaugurated a new transgender protection cell in the State, on the 12th of April, Tuesday.
The new protection cell would ensure protect the rights of transgenders and would be known as ‘Pride Place.’.
Regarding this, the Telangana Police issued an official release on the 12th of April. The newly inaugurated cell would actively work, focusing to curb the harassment against the third gender in the City and the State.
The Hyderabad Police took to Twitter and posted, “Inauguration of “PRIDE PLACE” Transgender (LGBQIA+) Persons Protection Cell – An initiative of Bharosa Society and Women Safety Wing, Telangana State Police. Live from O/o Women Safety Wing, Lakdikapool, Hyderabad.”
In another tweet posted on the official handle of the DGP of Telangana, it read, “Inauguration of “PRIDE PLACE” Transgender (LGBQIA+) Persons Protection Cell – An initiative of Bharosa Society and Women Safety Wing, Telangana State Police.”
